I recently relocated to a tiny town in Northern Michigan from the big, big city Chicago and am from Indiana—very Midwestern. I "do" architecture and graphic design professionally and personally. This could mean buildings and books, or logos and plans. I like rap music, the outdoors, and reading non-fiction. I hate missing the city. For a formal introduction, please read below:
I am currently an architectural associate at Designsmiths Architects in Traverse City, Michigan working on residential and commercial projects from renovations to new construction. I am also a frequent contributor to The Architect’s Newspaper writing on news, events, and designers. I recently graduated with a dual Master of Architecture & Master of Arts in Design Criticism from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC, 2019). There, I was a research assistant for both Marcia Lausen (Director for UIC School of Design) and Bob Somol (Director for UIC School of Architecture) developing projects for the school and campus. In addition, I was a recipient of the UIC Chancellor's Graduate Scholarship in support of my position as an exhibition research intern at the Art Institute of Chicago's Architecture and Design department under Zoë Ryan. I served on the exhibition and administrative committees of the Design Museum of Chicago from 2014–2016 and before graduate school worked as an environmental graphic designer at Selbert Perkins Design. I have a BFA in Visual Communication, minor in Art History and certificate in Museum Studies from Herron School of Art and Design Indiana University-Indianapolis (IUPUI, 2013).
